River the Red-Nosed Retriever

Magically, and without hesitation, cold and dark days are upon us once again. The leaves have dropped, migrating birds have went south, and all but the bravest mailmen have traded their shorts for long pants. Fall-la-la-la-long gone, winter is rearing its ugly first steps. A welcome appearance for some skiers and snowshoe hares, the islanders and skinny ones long hard and even longer for the first days of spring. We’ll take the dog days of summer over daylight savings, the lack of sun light makes one vitamin-d deficient and weak in the knees.

What does allow the muscles in our faces to perk upwards in the makings of a smile are the holidays! The spirit is joyful and contagious, the town’s energy is electric. Lewisburg’s Holiday Open House kicks things off, followed by Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Girls Day Out, First Fridays, and a whole lot of great days in between. Santa is coming to town, and we know Santa (total Elf reference)!

Come and see for yourself, good tidings and cheerful faces, including the glorious shop dog River!

Slap some store reindeer ears on him, paint the nose red, dangle a bone out front, and you’re halfway there to a guided-nighttime sleigh ride. River is historic, and with Christmas spirit.

Enjoy the holidays, don’t worry too much, and know its the time spent with friends and family that is the most important.
